Featured Services

Routine Wellness Exams

Pets age much more rapidly than humans. Therefore, bringing your pet to our clinic for annual or bi-annual examinations is crucial to his or her health. We offer thorough physical examinations so that we can detect any potential problems before they become major problems. During these exams, our veterinarians check your pet from head to toe. This allows us to catch any potential issues, such as dental disease. We may suggest routine bloodwork to screen for health risks, update vaccinations, or make diet suggestions. Like any relationship, communication is essential, and we hope you find value in your pet’s annual exams and check-ups. We even offer you the flexibility to drop-off and pick-up your pet during the day. Call us to schedule an appointment!

New Puppy Comprehensive Care

We want to ensure you get your puppy started on the right path to a long and healthy life. The first few months are a critical period in your puppy’s development. We will recommend and provide the vaccinations that are right for your puppy, as well as the deworming services he or she needs. Alongside these, we also provide health certificates, which will be a crucial part of any travel you may need to do with your pet.

In-House Bloodwork

Blood tests and other laboratory tests are essential in keeping your pet well and diagnosing illness. We offer an in-house laboratory enabling us to provide accurate laboratory results promptly. This means we can have results back within 30 minutes to let you know if there are any worrisome changes in your pet’s health. These can include indications of kidney disease, diabetes, electrolyte imbalances, infection, or dehydration, just to name a few. Our in-house diagnostics can quickly help us diagnose issues and get us on the right track to helping your pet!

Digital Radiography

X-rays are an important diagnostic tool used to identify what is going on within your pet. This amazing tool allows us to see any possible abnormalities within the body that may not be visible otherwise. Radiography can be used to evaluate almost any organ in the body, allowing us to diagnose pneumonia, evaluate fractures, or discover abnormal growths or possible foreign bodies.

Digital Ultrasound

Ultrasound technology is a non-invasive means of using sound waves to examine internal structures in pets. This technology can help us diagnose abnormal fluid around the heart or lungs, check kidney function, or discover stones in the bladder. Our veterinarians can use ultrasound technology to monitor internal organs and check for proper size, shape, location, and even blood supply to those organs.

Full Pharmacy

You and your pet will benefit from our well-stocked pharmacy. We maintain an extensive inventory of veterinary pharmaceutical products and medications, including flea, tick, and heartworm preventive products. You can rely on us whether your pet requires medication for a chronic medical condition or needs short-term medication while recovering from an illness, injury, or surgery.

Class 4 Laser Therapy

The class 4 laser is a non-invasive, non-painful, inexpensive way to manage pain and inflammation. It uses specific wavelengths of light to shorten healing time for wound care. This laser also promotes healing at a cellular level. Laser therapy can help improve rehabilitation results after surgery, lessen the pain caused by osteoarthritis, and speed up the healing of burns or chronic wounds. Let us work together to create a rehab or wound care plan for your pet. Give us a call today!

Shockwave Therapy

This is another non-invasive therapy that uses high-intensity sound waves. These sound waves interact with the injured tissue to reverse chronic inflammation, stimulate collagen, and encourage the development of new blood vessels. This therapy type helps treat osteoarthritis, tendon and ligament injuries, fractures, and other musculoskeletal disorders.

Joint Injections

Joint injections are a type of new innovative and regenerative therapy helping relieve pain and discomfort for many animals. It is considered to be a multi-modal pain relief when used in conjunction with oral pain meds. This is a longer-lasting method recommended when non-invasive therapies (medication, weight loss, supplements, and rehabilitation) are insufficient to reduce pain. To find out more about joint injections and how they can help your pet, please give us a call!

Emergency Services

Medical emergencies can happen at any hour of the day. When pets get hurt in an accident or have a life-threatening medical condition, they need emergency care just like humans. Our client’s emergencies always take priority at Graham Veterinary Clinic, and our team of veterinarians and technicians are here for your pet. If you are a client and your animal begins to experience any signs or symptoms that are concerning and life-threatening, please contact our clinic as soon as possible. We are available by phone call for established clients 24/7.

Humane Euthanasia

Just like any member of our family, we never want to see our pet suffer. We can examine your pet to help you understand your options, and when all other options have been explored and the decision is made to say good-bye, we’ll do our best to make the process as stress-free as possible – for both you and your pet.

Cremation Services

Because our care and dedication to your pet do not end when you have to say goodbye, we are proud to offer cremation to the families we serve. We want to give families the opportunity to choose a lasting way of honoring their pet’s memory. Please inquire about details regarding our cremation services and options.

Surgical Procedures

Spays and Neuters

Spaying or neutering your pet has many benefits. The procedure, which prevents animals from reproducing, can help your dog or cat live a longer, healthier life. By spaying or neutering your pet, you protect them from potentially deadly health issues such as reproductive tract diseases and several types of cancer. In addition, spaying or neutering your pet will help control the dog and cat overpopulation problem, keeping more animals out of shelters.

Dentals

Dental disease is one of the most significant sources of chronic pain in our pets. Advanced periodontal disease can lead to infection of the jaw, bone loss, and even fracture! We advocate for at-home oral-health routines, ideally focusing on daily brushing. We also recommend routine dental cleanings. These cleanings involve anesthetizing your pet, allowing us to thoroughly examine and clean their teeth with both scaling and polishing. If deemed necessary, we may recommend the removal of decayed, loose, or broken teeth. Tooth extractions with pets can be more complex in comparison to human teeth, which is why we take extra care and precautions when performing this procedure. Not only do the roots need to be completely removed, but the surrounding bone must also be appropriately treated. If you have any questions about proper dental care for your pet, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Surgical Procedures

We offer a variety of surgical procedures to our patients, such as spay, neuter, lumpectomy, surgeries involving the eyes and ears, cruciate repairs, luxating patella repairs, and emergency surgeries, to name a few. Some surgeries can be done the same day, while others require a hospital stay. While your pet is in our clinic, they will be cared for and monitored for any changes both before, during, and after surgery. During surgery, patients are hooked up to monitors to ensure that any potential problems while under anesthesia are quickly noticed and corrected. The surgery technician also monitors them throughout the entire surgery. Every surgery patient gets an IV catheter, which allows us quick and easy access to their veins if they need any medications under anesthesia. When your patient goes home, you may notice a shaved patch of hair on one of the front legs. This is where the catheter was placed. After surgery, your pet will recover on a heated mat upfront with our team so they can be watched as they wake up.

Specialized Testing

Brucellosis Testing

Brucellosis is a contagious bacterial infection caused by the Brucella bacteria. There are many different species of Brucella that can infect dogs, sheep, goats, cattle, pigs, or other animals. It is most common in sexually intact adult dogs. Symptoms of brucellosis usually include complications of the reproductive tract. To confirm a diagnosis of brucellosis, the doctor usually uses a blood test (rapid slide agglutination test or RAST). If the result is positive, the doctor may run a second more advanced blood test to confirm the result. The doctor can also test the animal’s blood for antibodies to the Brucella bacteria. Antibiotics may help control the infection, and surgical sterilization may be recommended to reduce the bacteria’s possible spread.

Progesterone Testing

Progesterone is a type of hormone that helps prepare/maintain the uterus for pregnancy. A progesterone test is just a simple blood test. This is an important key indicator of when ovulation occurs, along with the luteinizing hormone, or LH. This will also help us figure out the best time to breed.

Reproductive Services

Artificial Insemination

We also offer artificial insemination to our patients. This is the act of collecting semen from a male dog and having it inserted into the female recipient when she is in heat. If the semen cannot be used (chilled) within 24 hours, it is frozen in liquid nitrogen (viable for months to years). Semen can be used immediately when the female dog is available and ready to be inseminated. Some breeders may still choose to ship the semen chilled to distant locations or freeze it in liquid nitrogen for future use.

Artificial insemination can also be done surgically. Following anesthesia and preparation, an abdominal incision is made, and the uterus is located. Semen is injected directly into an anterior horn of the animal’s uterus with a small needle. The highest fertility rate and breeding success usually happen when adequate semen can be placed into the animal’s anterior uterus at precisely the proper time. This technique is beneficial when the semen quality is low, when using low-dose frozen semen or when the female has fertility problems (related to the cervix). If you would like to know more about our artificial insemination procedures, please give us a call.

Caesarian Sections

Mothers occasionally need help with delivery. C-sections are routinely done in our clinic on both a planned basis and emergency basis. We usually attempt to resolve the problem using medical therapy first in those emergency cases, but when that doesn’t solve the issue, we will perform a caesarian section. Prior to the c-section, the mother is given an anesthetic and carefully monitored for heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen levels, and blood pressure. An incision is then made along her abdomen and through the uterus to retrieve unborn puppies or kittens.
